Profile

Nice to meet you. My name is Taichi Inoue. Let me briefly introduce myself.

I was born in Fukuoka, Japan in 1981.I entered university in 1999, where I first encountered ikebana. It was not because my family or acquaintances were ikebana practitioners, nor was I interested in ikebana in the first place. I was looking for a club to join, and while I was visiting various places, I happened to find an ikebana club. I went to a trial practice just out of curiosity and found it somewhat interesting, so I stayed. The instructor there, Rifu Omata, is my teacher.

Most of my club mates left ikebana after graduation. But since I was in university longer than others, I spent more time with ikebana. So I was hooked on it and decided to continue after graduation. After I started working, I continued to study with my teacher and also went to Kyoto for ikebana training.

After I had practiced ikebana for such a long time, I was sometimes asked to teach ikebana or to arrange flowers for others. So I decided to take the plunge and open my own ikebana studio.

I asked my teacher to help me rent her classroom, and I created a website to recruit students. The first student arrived in May 2011. Little by little, the number of students increased, and now I have my own classroom.

In 2015, I was selected as an Ikenobo America Special visiting professor and spent three months teaching ikebana in various places in the United States and Canada. Then, in 2017, I was appointed as a researcher at the Ikenobo Central Training Institute, where I travel around the country teaching ikebana as a headquarter instructor.

Looking back, I was just going through the motions in a somewhat haphazard way, and before I knew it, ikebana had become the center of my life. I now live with flowers every day.
